Interior design: essential in conveying the identity of a place, those who inhabit and live it.
In the Bar Aphrodite it is hard to see what is sculpture and what is architecture – both are irresolutely bound by design.
The harmony between the bar area and the counter is determined by the travertine cladding throughout the walls and floors. The travertine face of Botticelli’s Aphrodite supports the counter-top itself.
The rest of the bar was designed following modern outlines and with a clean design.
One of the most interesting aspects of the work is the concept – totally innovative for the time – of merging the various fragments therein (the Muse, Aphrodite, the joined hands) into a single element: a surface, or rather a plane, folding, bending and giving form to the entire space.
