Built by Pope Sisto IV della Rovere to celebrate the Jubilee in 1475, it is made up of four arches clad in travertine, in the centre is a circular opening and it is decorated by five Papal coats of arms in marble.
The bridge renovation plan included the removal of the 19th century metallic structures, an expansion of the structure with suspended iron walkways supported by large brackets with new parapets.
