Now they are matching themselves up against the oldest and most calssical of materials.
Massimo Martini decided to create a truly special frame, it si in fact made of a thin plate of travertine that has been carved out in the center, thus giving rise to a rectangular picture frame. This plate is clad with pieces of travertine of irregular form, glued together, these leaving the center space free as well.
Since the frame's surface is much greater than its contents into high relief, creating an obvious contrast between the "poor" frame and the "rich" painting. Furthnore, this frame, even if made up of scraps, is anything but insignificant; rather, the thousand forms taken on by the travertine fragments radiating from its rectangular center, give it an originality not often found in picture frames.
